Older mail plans

Mail plans ordered up to early August 2026 run on the older mail system. They keep working unchanged; the difference is the server and the feature set.

Signing in does not differ: both generations use the mailbox user in the form 93029-1234, not the email address. So an identifier without an @ does not mean a mailbox belongs to the older generation.

Mailboxes and aliases of the older packages live on one of your domains or on a subdomain of it. The selection lists the domains on regfish name servers plus every subdomain whose MX record already points to mailserv.regfish.com: create that record in the DNS editor, and the subdomain is offered when you add a mailbox.

Server and ports

The server for both incoming and outgoing mail is mailserv.regfish.com.

The alternative ports with a leading 10 help when your own internet provider blocks the standard ones; that shows up as a timeout while connecting. The unencrypted ports exist for compatibility and should not be used. Port 25 is blocked by many providers anyway.

Webmail: both routes are open

regfish Mail at regfish.com/webmail/ is accessible for older plans too. Signing in detects which server the mailbox lives on and connects accordingly; there is nothing for you to configure.

Alongside it, Roundcube at webmail.regfish.de stays available, the previous interface matching the older plans.

No calendar, no contacts

Even in the new webmail, calendar and address book stay empty for older plans: the older system offers neither CalDAV nor CardDAV. Everything else, inbox, folders, search and composing, works there as usual.

What the current generation adds

• Better virus and malware detection as well as improved spam detection, whose thresholds you can set yourself.
• Optimized backup of the mailboxes.
• Calendar and contacts over CalDAV and CardDAV.
• The newer settings from the email section, such as blocklists and passkeys.

Moving to the current generation

New mail plans only come in the current generation. Existing messages can be carried over through import. Which package belongs to which plan is covered under plans.

The MX record of the domain matters here: for the current generation it points at mail.regfish.com. If it stays on the older server after a move, mail lands on a system where the new mailbox does not exist. The mail check in the dash shows the MX actually in use.
