The regfish Mail interface
The webmail is one of the ways in to your mailbox, alongside a mail program over IMAP and SMTP. It needs no setup and additionally carries the settings of the mailbox.
This chapter describes the interface itself. The settings behind it are covered in the following chapters, starting with spam and viruses. How the service is put together as a whole is in the overview.

Folders
Section titled “Folders”On the left sits the folder tree with the standard folders inbox, drafts, sent, spam, trash and archive. Your own folders can be created, renamed and deleted.
Three rules apply, and the program states them itself:
- No dot and no slash in the name. Both separate the hierarchy on the server.
INBOXis reserved.- Standard folders cannot be renamed, because the program uses them itself.
Deleting takes the contained messages with it and cannot be undone. The dialog says so explicitly.
Searching
Section titled “Searching”

The search field understands operators, not just keywords:
| Operator | Searches |
|---|---|
from: | Sender |
to: | Recipient |
subject: | Subject |
is:unread is:read | Read state |
is:flagged is:answered | Marking |
before: since: | Date |
You can switch between this folder and all folders. One limitation matters and is shown inline: as soon as the search includes the message body, it only covers the current folder. Very large folders are skipped and named.
Composing
Section titled “Composing”

Reply, reply all and forward set the quote and the threading headers correctly. There are also Cc and Bcc, recipient autocomplete from your contacts, attachments by picker or drag, a read receipt on request, and access to the templates.
Two limits are built in: at most three open drafts at a time, and a total attachment size that is named when exceeded.
Actions such as archive, delete or move show a toast with undo. Sending can be pulled back briefly too. That is the basic stance of the interface: rather act now and be able to take it back than ask first every time.
Keyboard
Section titled “Keyboard”

⌘K opens the command palette, where navigation, actions and the appearance can be searched. ?
shows the overview of every shortcut.
| Key | Effect |
|---|---|
c | New message |
/ | Focus search |
g then i s d c k | Jump to inbox, sent, drafts, contacts, calendar |
? | Keyboard help |
Plus shortcuts for reply, reply all, forward, archive and delete.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Light, dark or follow the system. Switchable through the command palette as well.
