regfish Mail

regfish Mail is the mail service of regfish GmbH. It provides mailboxes, accepts and delivers mail, keeps a calendar and an address book, and can be used in several ways. The webmail is one of those ways, not the service itself.

WayFor what
Mail program over IMAP, POP3 and SMTPThe usual route: Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, your phone
Webmail in the browserFrom anywhere without setup, plus the mailbox settings
Calendar and address book over CalDAV and CardDAVAppointments and contacts in any program speaking those standards

Every route reaches the same data. What you delete in a mail program is gone in the webmail too.

The server is mail.regfish.de or mail.regfish.com. You sign in with the full email address and the mailbox password.

ProtocolEncryptedAlternative
IMAP99310993
SMTP46510465
POP399510995

The alternative ports exist for the case where your own internet provider blocks the standard ones. That happens on some networks and shows up as a timeout while connecting.

IMAP rather than POP3 if you use the mailbox on several devices: IMAP leaves the mail on the server and keeps every device in step, POP3 fetches it away. Push mail over IMAP IDLE is supported.

If two factor authentication is active for the mailbox, the mail program needs an app password; a second factor cannot be requested over IMAP. See security.

This is the split worth knowing:

In the dash sits the service itself: the mail package with its storage and number of mailboxes, creating and deleting mailboxes, the domains and the forwarding. SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set there too.

In the webmail sit the settings of one mailbox: spam thresholds, blocklists, filters, aliases, vacation reply, signatures, import and the security of that mailbox. If you look after a single mailbox, that is enough and you never need to open the dash.

Rule of thumb: anything that costs money or affects several mailboxes lives in the dash. Anything affecting one mailbox lives in the webmail.

AddressFor what
regfish Mail (webmail)regfish.com/webmail/The modern interface. Open to all mail plans, old and new
regfish Webmail (Roundcube)webmail.regfish.deThe previous interface, matching the older mail plans

The old webmail stays. Anyone happy with it need not change a thing. Both reach the same mailbox.

Spam and virus filtering per mailbox, sender blocklists, sorting rules, a vacation notice, two factor sign in with app passwords, and an IMAP migration you start yourself. The chapters of this section describe them in turn.
